Title: Fingerlakes 09
Post by: trick on September 11, 2009, 04:34:52 PM
a bit new here, and surprised that i didn't see anyone talking about the Fingerlakes rally yet--especially since the weather was so amazing!

My father and i came up to the rally from Pittsburgh, about 300 miles / 480 km, via rt. 144, and the weather couldn't have been better! Didn't go on any of the organised rides, but went around to some great restaurants and finally getting to ride 144 was awesome. Unfortunately, the only picture that i have on me at the moment is of our stop at The Rocks on 144, but there will be more soon. Oh, and we saw Sue there too! i can thank her for bringing me here!

Sounds great!

Pennsylvania (and I assume western NY) is beautiful country, and prime for motorcycling!

Yea Sue!

P.S.  I just sold some airhead parts to a guy in Gibsonia!

Welcome to the house Trick.  Glad you could make it.  There's a really nice looking LS on Craigslist in Pittsburgh right now that I'm lusting after.  I'm trying to figure out how to check it out and if it's worthy how to go pick it up.  Do you know the bike?

"Ran when parked", without even telling you when that was!  That's funny!

Nice pipes, though.

i don't know the bike, but something that pops out to me in the photos is that those little side panels that you need to secure on? The ones that are on either side of the battery housing? i've never seen them in henna red like they are in those photos.

Yeh, pretty good huh?  I sent the guy a note and asked him how long it's been parked.  "Don't know, I'm selling it for a friend.  Lots of interest in the bike though."
Nice pipes, though.
Yes they are.  From a distance the whole package looks good.  Be interesting to see what it goes for.
Trick, my apologies for hijacking your thread.  We now return you to the Finger Lakes Rally.

Hey Trick!! Ya made it!! Welcome, welcome to the best darn forum around!
Trick and I were both on our henna red LS's at the Finger Lakes rally and we were a crowd of two! We got a fair amount of attention too. Trick won youngest attendee...I didn't ::) Finger Lakes puts on a wonderful rally.

The side battery covers must have been painted afterwards as all my brochures show them to be black, Trick.  Got my new tires on OK and got home Friday. Bad bad rain coming over to Michigan through Cleveland. I was following my MI. friends hauling their Harley trailer. It was so bad to see that we loaded up LRB (my LS, Trick), little red baron, into the trailer. I couldn't see! And the rain even stung my eyes as we were loading the bike! What's with that?

I'll try to put down a few words about my rally time too.
Don't be a stranger Trick.....there are no stupid questions here! All will be answered without any embarrassment.

Another one added to the flock by Sue!  She led me this way as well a few years back.  So glad she did!  You'll enjoy this group of fine folk.  Show us a picture of your bike when you can.

Sue, we caught some of the rain (read: six hours of the eight-hour trip) too, and i found out that my riding gear needs to be re-Scotch Guarded. It soaked through in the first hour! Luckily, it wasn't as cold as it's been in previous years.

My bike is attached as well as the picture on rt 144 i spoke of in the first post. The picture of the bike in the garage is an old one, and i have since lost one of the hard bags, so i'm using a nice pair of softs now.
