Title: Gustav may park my R65
Post by: montmil on August 31, 2008, 01:47:28 PM
Four Airheads on a Sunday morning ride today. What a treat. One was a "fire road runner" custom job with a lengthened drive shaft/swing arm assembly and a heap o' other mods. I'll score some pics soon as this is a very cool roadable off-roader Boxer.

Gustav may dump some needed rain on North Texas this coming week but will also relegate me to the Cabriolet for work commute. No biggie.

Hope none of our R65 group are in danger from this possible, quoting the mayor of New Orleans, Force 5 "Mother of all storms."

Stay dry, lads.

Nagen (sp?) is such a pompous ass, I can't believe he is still in control after the way he boned the last disaster he had to deal with...

Monte,

Looks like Gustav wasn't as bad as it could have been.  I hope you did okay through all that.  Looks like there's a couple more hurricanes brewing out there in the Atlantic.

How is everyone on the East Coast doing?  Looks like lots of rain and wind and some flooding too.  I'm hoping everyone is surviving okay out there.

We're doing good.  Lots of wind and rain, tore our deck awning down partially, but overall not too bad.  There was some flooding here in Raleigh, but nothing like I've seen before.  I still remember Fran from 1996...  :-/

NCSteve didn't let it slow him down, he went up to Willville for the weekend.  He is a bit further inland than us, though.  I'm glad to see Ike has decided to stay south (at least for us here in NC).  Looks like that one just may end up being the storm they thought Gustav was going to be.  Hope you Texans are ready to batten down the hatches again!

Up here in North Texas, we barely got a sprinkle out of Gustav. Though quite a bit of wind from the outflow. I missed only one day of riding the R65 to work due to showers. Big Ike may be another matter all together for our coastal kin. It was Ivan take washed away our Perdido Key condo.  :'(

N.O. Mayor Nagin kinda jumped the gun on his, "Force 5 Mother of all Hurricanes" speech. ::)  We're shipping the Louisiana evacuees back as fast as we can find buses. Three years after Katrina, our local constabulary is still busting meth and coke dealers from the southern bayous to our sou'east. Pitiful.

Well, we got one heck of a jazz trumpet player out of Katrina once he relocated here in Raleigh.  And we're glad to have him!
But we are a bit farther away...
