...if the weather forecast looks okay.
Probably going to be a quiet weekend in between several upcoming rallies, but that's often cool too.
Anyone in the area wanting to camp, ride & hang, come on over [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

We can't be there this weekend. We're taking a Dirt Bike class from http://www.MotoMark1.com. Gotta learn how to ride my new toy properly. Will told Graham when we were riding around the campground last trip, "You're going to have to calm her down!" ;D

So, what is your new toy? I don't see anything different in your sig line.
-
Oh yeah! I forgot about that! I'm not sure I have a picture, but it's a Lifan LF200-GY, a dual purpose bike, more dirt that road. It's gonna be fun! It's a chinese bike...
...something like this, only different... (my number is 8 ;D) http://www.americanlifan.com/lifan3/products.html

Is your store a dealer?
edit: and no, I am not a nascar fan... ::)
-
No, we're not. I work for Motomark1 and these were his training bikes last year for the MSF classes he taught. He is now in a program where he 'borrows' bikes from Honda and so he is selling these. He bought them directly from the distributor and he is a Lifan dealer, but not a NC DMV dealer. He also has 2 of the sport bikes and 2 of the cruisers.
(I am a Nascar fan, but 8 in NOT my number there!) This bike was #8 in his training fleet and it is labeled as such. 8-)
-
I hope you're not riding that thing very far: maximum speed 60 miles per hour? I didn't see a sport bike on that page! ;D
-
OK ED, you have a point. . . [smiley=beehive.gif] And we are trailering them down about 2 hours to the class. We only plan on exploring some of the less known dirt/forest roads up in the mountains with these.
And I guess I should have said, "sport style" bikes... ;)
(P.S. Sorry NCSteve for hijacking your thread!)

I would like to be able to tow one behind my R65!
-
Yeah, Rob I was thinking the same thing...must be a way.
Once we had a fellow come by the dealership with his Harley in tow....behind his KLT!! Now that was a picture! ::)

Those are the reasons I always have my camera with me!

May I ask a question here about Lifan quality ?
My youngest son currently use a SUV for commuting to work - about 40 km per day . His fuel bill is about R24 000 per year (US$3115.00 )
If I am correct, the local price of a Lifan LF200 -GY is about R12 000.00 (US$1560.00)
I reckon if the Lifan only lasts one year it might be worthwhile buying one . If spares and labour is too expensive, it might still be worthwhile buying a new one every year.

The big question is "Was it tested for lead content " ?
-
I retitled this thread to more accurately reflect what it was all about, especially since I wasn't able to get to Willville myself last weekend, this weekend, or the next either.
My big plans of a 2 week trip to/thru New England in a few weeks also fell through, due to work junk and my father's health. Dammit.
Aida, no hijacking alleged or felt whatsoever... [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
But, wasn't your new bike blue, or am I trippin' again??
Of course, you were lapping the camp in such a blur of dust & speed... ;)

;D
Only important if you're going to eat it.

Well, I've been away for a few days...up a Willville again! No bikes, this time, though - we were looking at property...
Yes, NC Steve, my bike is blue - rather teal. I didn't/don't have a picture of mine, so I just borrowed one from the Lifan site. That one is more like Graham's LF150. He is trying to decide between the blue and the red. ::)
Dani, as far as quality, it's a question that I myself have not answered just yet. All I can tell you is the fit and finish is not 'top' quality, but it isn't bad either. These particular bikes were not exactly treated with TLC over the past year, so they got a bad rap from the instructors trying to teach on them. (The instructors were not exactly real mechanically minded and the bike would sit for days, weeks, sometime months without being started.) Graham, my husband, has been spending the last couple of weeks tweaking on them to get them running smoothly and reliably. I think they just needed some attention. We've only had them a few weeks and we'll see. I've been trying to get a new shock for mine, without much response from the distributor. That doesn't seem to be a good sign at this point. I'm not ready to bad mouth them just yet, but the jury is not in on the parts availability in my book. :-X
These bikes supposedly will get about 100 mpg, so that is great news. We haven't made it through a tank full yet, so I can't confirm that either. I'll let you know one we've put a few more miles on these babies.
-
100 MPG sounds great - until you look at the top speed...
I don't think I want to get on the interstate highway (80% of my commute) with a 60 MPH top speed. The "people" (I had another word in mind) that don't give a hoot about mileage or speed limits would run you over and never slow down.
-
Update-just got my shock today - under warranty even. So maybe parts aren't a problem... :D
