Title: A nice weekday afternoon ride....
Post by: SCJJR65 on April 17, 2008, 05:12:20 PM
I was off work today, the weather after lunch was 75 and sunny, and Britta had her new rear final drive installed last week, so whatcha gonna do?   Go for a nice ride in the country, that's what!   ;)

It wasn't a long ride, 61 miles total and about two hours, but I tooled around the county, including our small airport.  It's fun to watch the small planes land and take off, because you can park real close to the runway!  (If I ever win the lottery, I AM going to get my pilot's license!)

I got a treat this afternoon, because a pretty good sized jet was there refueling when I arrived, and was about to take off again.  Our county airport doesn't have a tower, so usually only small prop planes use this airport, but now and then you might see a small Lear Jet show up.  It was a rush to watch this jet get off the ground in less than half of the runway!

Yeah, I know, it's kinda lame, but it doesn't take much to entertain me!  It topped off a nice afternoon's ride!  ;D

Most excellent, SC John, sounds like a very nice afternoon indeed. About time, huh? [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

I'm heading to Willville in the a.m. myself, and hoping the weather holds out for a rain-free camp weekend. There's some predictions of possible storms both Sat. and Sun., but the forecasts have been changing all week too, and no heavy rain is called for, so anything's possible.

This is also a ADVrider to-do, and from I've gleamed so far it's lookin' to be a big event.

Hope maybe a few of the R65 faithful can make it: Aida, Graham, see you soon. ;)

Hey it's neat to find these great little airports around.  We have a local "flying club" right up the road from us and sometimes on the way to the grocery store we get to stop and watch a byplane land.  Love it!

Steve,  we're planning on heading up Sat. am.  Have to work tomorrow - I'll  have a new toy to break in this weekend!!  ;D
