Title: Krauser Catches
Post by: Diesel_Dave on February 01, 2007, 01:27:49 PM
My R65 came with a very nice set of Krauser panniers - fit very nicely they do and will even take my helmet.

However they don't have any locking mechanism, and I don't want to return to the bike to find them or the contents missing.

Are any lockable versions of the catches available?

Regards
Dave

If the bags in question are the ones in your avatar then they are BMW Touring Bags.  If they are the old Krauser K1 bagd (different than in picture) then I think the latches from the Hepco-Becker bags will work but they are a bit pricey.  Somebody please chime in here...

I remember noticing the BMW Touring bags when you first posted the pics when you picked up your bike.  If it's the BMW bags, any dealer can get you latches with lock and keys that they can match to your ignition switch.  (Sweet!)   :D

I know nothing about the Krauser bags...   :-[

I'm kind of confused by the original post but the answer to what you're asking may be:

If you have the style of bags as shown in your photo AND the bags have the latches that attach them to the frame at the rear of the bike/bag, then they should have the locking mechanism---on the early style bag, the small rectangular "flap" on the saddlebag latch lifts up to reveal a key slot underneath it.

If you don't have that key, there will be a 3-digit number on the lock.....the needed key number can then usually be obtained from one source or another.
